Hardin Memorial Hospital

Hardin Memorial Hospital is a regional healthcare center serving Hardin as well as twelve other surrounding counties.  As a county owned, nonprofit organization, Hardin Memorial is one of the largest government owned healthcare facilities in the Commonwealth and is Kentucky’s largest owned county hospital.  Hardin County Fiscal Court is the Board of Trustees for HMH with the Judge/Executive serving as the Chairman of the Board.

Hardin Memorial is a 300-licensed bed facility with over 1,500 of the Commonwealth’s best healthcare professionals working to meet the needs of our citizens. By utilizing a market leading approach to providing compensation and benefits, HMH is highly successful in attracting and retaining the highest quality healthcare staff in the region.

The core values of confirming patient focus; manifesting teamwork, dedication, and integrity; continually improving processes and systems; and maintaining communications throughout the organization makes Hardin Memorial a leading member of the Kentucky Hospital Association.

Hardin Memorial’s annual $10-15 million capital budget affords the continual upgrades and improvements required to provide access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment necessary to deliver leading edge healthcare services to our community.  The recent $7 million project to improve radiology services and construct the Women’s’ Health Pavilion is an indication of the institution’s commitment to leading the way in meeting demand for these services.  Another good example is our recent addition of the new Endoscopy and Outpatient Surgical Center.  This $10 million project, completed in late 2005, provides convenient outpatient services in a modern facility without the need to enter the main hospital complex.

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) is responsible for surveying healthcare institutions nationwide.  Hardin Memorial was last surveyed in August 2003 and received an overall compliance rating of 95%; placing it among the top tear of its peers.  The survey is conducted on a surprise basis approximately every three years.  Hardin Memorial anticipates its next survey this summer and is well prepared, as always, to demonstrate why we are leading the healthcare institutions of Kentucky.

With an annual operating budget of $167 million, HMH will provide services to over 50,000 emergency room patients and 12,000 inpatients this coming fiscal year.  As always, Hardin Memorial is working hard to meet our healthcare needs and will continue striving to remain the region’s healthcare provide of choice.
