Internet Accessibility – High-speed Internet access is one of the most important topics new businesses inquire about when investigating our community for the potential of making Hardin County their home. The top areas of concern when prospective clients visit our Industrial and Economic Foundations are the availability of adequate roads, rail service, airports, and T1 lines. To insure we are prepared for the opportunities of the 21st Century, Hardin County’s e-Community Leadership Team is leading the way into the “new economy” through its partnership with the Governor’s Prescription for Innovation. The following are some of those areas:
While we may be among the counties leading the way for Internet availability in Kentucky, there is always room for improvement. Through pursuing the Five A’s to technology acceleration (availability, affordability, awareness, applications, and adoption), our e-Community Leadership Team is aggressively working to enhance widespread opportunities for e-commerce throughout our county. Our e-Community Leadership Team’s immediate goals are to improve broadband availability, increase the use of computers and the Internet, develop more technology education opportunities, and enhance local governments availability of online services to our citizens. To that end, work is currently underway through local partnership initiatives, to provide wireless broadband service throughout Hardin County in the near future – stayed tuned! Meanwhile, your county and city governments are constantly increasing the use of web sites to provide you accessibility to local government information and services.
